Wasn’t there some talk about us looking at Barcola, and it being a realistic option, as he gets little playing time at PSG?
A bit concerned about right-back, though, although it seems like Timber will get more rest now.

Like most Arsenal fans (I think), agree that the club is well stocked at the back, and sincerely hope that Ben White can get fit and stay.
In the middle, not much of a problem. Odgegaard going nowhere and Zubimendi will improve to give us a full season. Merino returns, Eze is bedded in, Lewis-Skelly gets better, Max to get minutes and Declan, well, warrior!
Up front, Big Vik benefits from a transformative season and improves. Would like to see a replacement for Jesus, but not my priority.
Left wing is the concern. Leao is a big unit, surprisingly explosive and quick for his size. Technically good and adept 1 to 1, he also scores goals. However, I’d take Raphinha, he can cause chaos! Technically brilliant, excellent work rate both in tracking back and pressing. Scores goals, gives assist, lightning fast and unpredictable 1 to 1 on both feet. Keep Martinelli as back-up.

Raya for me. Honourable mentions for Gabriel and Saliba too. Rice has been excellent but POTY almost always goes to midfielders and forwards. Without David Raya’s clean sheets (with for example Kepa, Ramsdale or Leno in goal) Arsenal simply don’t win the league this season.

What a feeling – the anxiety over the season and then the pure relief and joy I experienced last night when we got over the line. 22 years is a very long time! Of course every rival will downplay our success but I don’t give a monkeys – we will be celebrating for the whole summer now and imagine if we do the unthinkable in Budapest – we really will be on cloud 9 and that parade on 31st will be the icing on the cake – COYG!

Good comments to the bbc, liked the way you gently dropped in the “in isolation and partisan pundits” etc. I suspect it difficult to balance and not come over too biased yourself in these kind of interviews.I hope you become there go to guy for all things Arsenal – you deserve some good recognition for all the articles over the years. Plus you will be able yo slip in more pro-arsenal perdpective You are always extremely honest in your writing and are in my top 3 go to arsenal blogs. You are never over the top and always genuine, and you can tell you do it out of love for the club rather than just seeking minor celebdom or hits/clicks. You are a great representative of everything that is good about our diverse fanbase and for me as a fan of 55yrs your writing reflects this in its balance and feel

I have every expectation that both Burnley and Palace will be nervy, tight, attritional and exasperating games. Probably both settled by a single goal margin despite form, league position and what’s at stake for both teams.
Also, City will batter Aston Villa on the last day.
But I honestly think Bournemouth will run City close and may even force them to drop some points. It would be so nice if they did. To have the title sewn up before the last day would be such a relief.

Hard to know how many tickets are in each category. I suspect most are £180 in middle and upper tier behind the goal. So do enter the ballot. If you get one you don’t have to buy if there’s only the expensive tickets left.

Travel and accommodation are more problematic.

With regard to the Pope red card, if the players were in reverse order – so Pope was regularly standing in goal and it was a DEFENDER who fouled Gyokeres being the “last man”, would that not have been a red card, seeing as there is not another defender around to cover and that defender was the last man? So why wouldn’t this have been a red card coz the other man “covering” was a defender and not a goalie? It’s actually worse coz I would rather a one-on-one on an outfield player than a goalie who is able to use his hands, so ….. yes, for me, very easily a red card any day.

Abject ponderous display against sporting and we go out on penalties
Real dross performance at City, scared to cross half way, defenders robbed in possession and lose 3-0.
Arteta will spout same bollox and ignore the cries of fans who want progressive football.

Thanks for the comment Dave. Very thorough and i’d love it to have brought me hope, but my worry now is that we WON’T have those players back for Sunday. I was convinced we’d see Timber, Calafiori, etc on Saturday – but none appeared. And that has worried me too, because the same team rocking up at the Etihad on Sunday gets a beat down. 🙁
